Forgotten Words
O noble squire
This day I dread
Never before hath my life been in threat
Neither by pestilence, nor war
Battle's fiery breath
Doth singe my flesh
And blood's foul stench
Fills my nostrils with horrific sensation
As I plunge into Hell's cruel oriface
Remember me doing so with bravery
Forget these words
These words of fear and reluctance
And should I retreat in cowardice
Be thou kind, and take thy sword
And divide my body and spirit asunder
That my judgment shall lie solely with the Almighty
Now, my faithful servant
Observe me, until I vanish
Until I fade into the depths of oblivion
Dear God, have mercy.
